Biography:

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, formerly known as Samantha Akkineni, is an Indian actress who primarily works in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. She was born on April 28, 1987, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Samantha began her career as a model before making her foray into acting.

Samantha made her acting debut with the Telugu film “Ye Maaya Chesave” in 2010, directed by Gautham Menon. Her portrayal of the character Jessie received critical acclaim, and she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South for her performance. The film was a commercial success and catapulted Samantha to stardom.

Following her successful debut, Samantha acted in a series of Telugu and Tamil films, gaining recognition for her versatile performances. Some of her notable movies include “Dookudu” (2011), “Eega” (2012), “Neethaane En Ponvasantham” (2012), “Rangasthalam” (2018), and “Super Deluxe” (2019). She began dating actor Naga Chaitanya in 2010 and the pair were engaged in a ceremony in Hyderabad during January 2017. She got married in Goa as per traditional Hindu customs on 6 October 2017 and then by Christian customs on 7 October 2017 and became a member of the Akkineni family. Since then she has been using her married name, Samantha Akkineni. On October 2, 2021, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha ruth prabhu announced their separation, ending four years of marriage. They shared a joint statement on Instagram. Both of them went their separate ways and focused on their careers. However, they have been at the receiving end of constant vilification.

In addition to her film career, Samantha is also actively involved in philanthropy. She has been associated with several charitable initiatives, including supporting causes related to education, health, and animal welfare.
