Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu

Story:

Gautham Vasudev Menon co-wrote, co-produced, and directed the 2012 Telugu-language musical romance movie Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu. Samantha and Nani are the stars. Ilaiyaraaja created the film’s score and soundtrack, and M. S. Prabhu handled the cinematography. Jiiva took Nani’s place when it was simultaneously filmed as Neethaane En Ponvasantham in Tamil. It won five Nandi Awards for the movie.

Varun (Nani) enrolls in an engineering institution to start the movie. One day while attending a cultural event with his friends, Varun discovers Nithya (Samantha), his childhood sweetheart, taking part in a dance performance. He starts courting her by performing on stage before finally meeting her. The movie flashes back to when they first met, when they were both in third grade. After a minor incident, they start to get along well, and their friendship grows. But after a miscommunication, Nithya makes the decision to avoid Varun and never speak to him again. But as fate would have it, they cross paths once more in their eleventh standard.

After Varun breaks the ice between them, Nithya loses her inhibitions and resumes her friendship with him. At first, Nithya is hesitant to speak with Varun. To the chagrin of Varun, Nithya is chosen as the student body president and interacts frequently with Deepak, another student body president and a classmate. They consequently suffer another repercussion.

The movie then cuts to their present-day encounter at the campus. Both put their prior issues behind them and rekindle their friendship. They fell in love again this time. Nithya departs for India during the break, leaving Varun to fend for himself. The older brother of Varun, who works at a software business, tells his parents that he wants to wed a workmate.

His parents oblige by offering to negotiate with the girl’s parents. However, his parents are humiliated at the negotiations. Varun, in the process of consoling them, realises that despite their embarrassment, his brother and parents care about him rather than themselves. He then decides to take his studies more seriously and begins preparing for CAT. Nithya comes back to India and sees Varun not spending enough time with her due to his busy schedule. Nithya too initially understands his situation. However, when she learns that Varun is going to IIM Kozhikode, she too proposes to go with him. Varun rejects her proposal citing that he is going to stay in a hostel as staying outside in a rented house would be too costly for his family. This leads to a heated argument between the two and eventually ends up in another break-up between them.
