Story:

“Autonagar Surya” a 2014 Indian Telugu-language political action film directed by Deva Katta, features a stellar cast including Naga Chaitanya, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Brahmanandam, and Sai Kumar in significant roles. Produced by K. Atchi Reddy under the Max India Productions banner, the film forms part of Deva Katta’s Quadriology, offering a perspective on society from the standpoint of the common man.

Anoop Rubens composed the film’s music, while cinematography was handled by Srikanth Naroj, known for his work in the 2011 film “Hostel,” and editing was managed by Gautham Raju. The commencement of principal photography took place on October 14, 2011, in Hyderabad. However, the filming faced a setback due to financial turmoil, leading to a hiatus from December 2012 to September 2013.

The team resumed shooting and successfully wrapped up the entire process by November 30, 2013. Originally slated for a global release on June 27, 2014, the film encountered mixed to negative reviews upon its debut, prompting a 12-minute trim in response to critical feedback. Set in the 1990s, the storyline unfolds around an orphan named Surya, employed as a mechanic in Autonagar.

Surya’s life takes a fateful turn when, under unfortunate circumstances, he kills a goon, leading to a five-year prison sentence. During his incarceration, he attains an engineering degree with the aspiration of realizing his dream project—constructing a battery-powered vehicle. Upon release, Surya encounters obstacles in the form of the Autonagar area’s mayor and his henchmen, who exert control. The narrative delves into Surya’s journey as he strives to overcome these challenges and fulfill his vision.
