Tushar Ravi Kapoor, also known by his stage name Tusshar Kapoor, is an Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Hindi cinema Born on November 20, 1976. The Indian actors Jeetendra and Shobha Kapoor are the parents of Tusshar Kapoor. Producer of both films and television, Ekta Kapoor is his elder sister. He studied with Abhishek Bachchan in the same class at the Bombay Scottish School. He then pursued his BBA studies at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Similar to his dad, Tusshar Kapoor practices Nichiren Buddhism. Using surrogacy, Kapoor became a single parent to Lakshya Kapoor in June 2016 after inspiringly choosing to undergo IVF. Before he made his acting debut, Kapoor was assistant to film director David Dhawan. After that, he studied acting at the acting school of Roshan Taneja and Mahendra Verma, and dance with Nimesh Bhatt.
Under the direction of his friend Dharmanshu Parmar, also known as Monty, who lives in Gujarat, he made his screen debut in 2001 alongside Kareena Kapoor in the hit film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, which was a remake of the Telugu mega hit Tholi Prema. For his performance in the movie, he was given the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. Then, he costarred with Esha Deol as Rahul in the coming-of-age movie Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa.
Two more Telugu remakes that Kapoor starred in, Yeh Dil (2003) and Jeena Sirf Merre Liye (2002), did not do well at the box office. After that, he starred in Ram Gopal Varma’s Gayab (2004), which was deemed to be below average at the box office despite the actor receiving praise for his performance.
Commencing in 2004, Kapoor acted in box office successes like Khakee (2004), Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005), Golmaal (2006), Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010), The Dirty Picture (2011), Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012), the critically acclaimed Shor in the City (2012), and Shootout at Wadala (2013). In Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), he played gangster Dilip Buwa and garnered positive reviews.
Kapoor participated in the “Fashion for a Cause” event in 2012, which helped raise funds for children who were homeless. In addition to acting in the movie Chaar Din Ki Chandni (2012), he co-produced it. Additionally, he played the lead role in the adult comedies Mastizaade (2016) and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 (2016), which did mediocre business at the box office.
In the comedy Golmaal Again, which Kapoor played Lucky in again in 2017, the movie was a huge hit.He made a brief appearance in the 2018 smash hit Simmba, lending his voice to the song Aankh Marey. He costarred with Mallika Sherawat as Manav in the 2019 web horror series Boo Sabki Phategi from ALT Balaji.
He produced the 2020 film Laxmii, starring Ashwini Kalsekar, Sharad Kelkar, Kiara Advani, and Akshay Kumar. He and his production company Tushar Entertainment are co-producers of the movie. His first published work as an author was “Bachelor Dad,” which Penguin released in 2021. In addition to addressing some of the problems single fathers face, the book details his journey as a single parent.
