Story:

In 2012, Gautham Vasudev Menon co-wrote, co-produced, and co-directed the Tamil-language love drama film Neethaane En Ponvasantham, which starred Jiiva and Samantha. In addition to concurrently filming Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu in Telugu, where Nani plays Jiiva, the filmmakers also briefly shot Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau in Hindi, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor, with Samantha playing the lead female role in all three versions. Reshma Ghatala, who produced the movie with Elred Kumar, Venkat Somasundaram, and Menon, wrote the tale on which the movie is based. Om Prakash and M. S. Prabhu handled the cinematography. Ilaiyaraaja created the soundtrack and background score for the movie, which went on to become a chart-topping success.

Shortly upon its debut, the soundtrack CD broke sales records by selling 8.5 million copies across several platforms.

Varun (Jiiva) and Nithya (Samantha)’s love story is told in Neethaane En Ponvasantham across three phases of their lives: school, college, and their late twenties. After opening to a mixed to positive reception from reviewers, the movie had a successful run at the box office on December 14, 2012.

The film received accolades for its gorgeous soundtrack and the connection between Jiiva and Samantha, who played the key roles. However, the narrative received criticism. Neethane En Ponvasantham won several accolades at the conclusion of its theatrical run, including Samantha’s Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress. Childhood pals Varun and Nithya misinterpreted one another. After a fruitful discussion, they later come together at school. To be with Nithya, Varun also enrols at her school. However, this was not the outcome. Varun became enraged with Nithya since she was close to his classmate Deepak, and they got into another fight. At last, they turned against each other. Varun rekindles his love for Nithya during a college event as he is mesmerized by her beauty and performances. Varun and Nithya rekindle their romance after speaking again. One rainy day, while the two are sitting in the car, Nithya makes Varun a proposal.
