Gundu Sudarshan was raised in Bhimavaram, the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, India, where he was born to Subbarao and Kanakalatha. His father worked as a lobbyist. In his youth, he enjoyed watching legendary dramas. He attended school in Manchili, his grandfather’s hamlet, up until the seventh grade. As early as age 10, he had performed on stages. He made his acting debut as a Sishya in the stage drama Mondi Guruvu Banda Sishyudu during his seventh grade year. He participated in the school’s cultural events as well. He attended elementary and middle school at Bhimavaram.
He got along well with author Sriramana, best known for his book Mithunam, and was introduced to Bapu by him. Pinni Gari Mogudu, a part in the comedy series Navvite Navvandi, was offered to him by Bapu. With the help of this serial, Amanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam, another Tollywood comic, made his acting debut. He portrayed Chandamarkulu, Prahlada’s guru, in the Bhagavatam television series, which was produced by Bapu and aired on ETV.
He made his acting debut in Srinatha Kavi Sarvabhowmudu (1991), a biographical film on the famous Telugu poet Srinatha, which was directed by Bapu and starred N. T. Rama Rao.[5] In this movie, he portrayed Ganapati, Srinatha’s head cook.
Along with N. T. Rama Rao, it was a full-length role.
However, Mister Pellam, in which he performed the characters of Narada and Narasaiah (Rajendra Prasad’s neighbor), was the first movie to be released. Antha Vishnu Maya, one of his lines, became well-known to audiences. In the films Rambantu, Chitram, and Ramasakkanodu that followed, he appeared. He subsequently had to return to Bhimavaram to maintain his family while working as a lecturer.
He continued to perform in films whenever Bapu offered him a part in one of his productions. He would leave for Hyderabad, do his work, and then return to his hometown to carry out his normal duties.
As Chitragupta, he hosted the ZeeTV Telugu program Chittam Chittam Prayaschittam. For 40 episodes, he served as the show’s host and scriptwriter. He also appeared as one of the guests on Suma’s MAA TV program Bhale Chance le. Additionally, he participated in the Udaya Bhanu-hosted program Nuvvu Nenu.
