Syed Jaaved Ahmed Jaffrey, born on December 4, 1962, is an Indian actor, dancer, and comedian known for his work in Hindi films and television. He hails from a family of entertainers, being the son of the legendary comedian Jagdeep.
In addition to his acting career, Jaffrey has showcased his talents in various other roles. He portrayed Charlie Anna in the animated film “Roadside Romeo,” a collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Disney. He is also recognized for his commentary on the Japanese TV shows “Takeshi’s Castle” and “Ninja Warrior” on Pogo TV and Hungama respectively.
Jaffrey’s versatility extends to hosting, as he has presided over prestigious award shows such as Filmfare, Zee Cine Awards, and IIFA. He even made appearances on the Pakistani program “Loose Talk,” assuming different characters from India.
Beyond the entertainment industry, Jaffrey has had a long-standing association with advertising since 1980, wearing multiple hats as a model, choreographer, copywriter, producer, and director. Notably, he became a familiar face in the iconic Maggi Hot & Sweet Sauce commercials for 25 years.
In March 2014, Jaffrey ventured into politics by joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He contested the 2014 Indian general election from the Lucknow constituency, finishing fifth.
