Theatre“Velayudham” is a 2011 Indian Tamil-language superhero film directed by Mohan Raja, starring Vijay as the titular character and Genelia as the female lead. The movie is about a young journalist named Bharathi and her friends who investigate a series of terrorist attacks and illegal activities in Chennai. After a close encounter with criminals, Bharathi conceives the idea of a fictional character named Velayudham, inspired by a nearby temple, to combat these societal issues.
Meanwhile, Velu, a simple milk vendor living with his sister and cousin in a village, inadvertently foils a terrorist attack at a railway station and gains Bharathi’s attention. Initially, she dislikes him, but later, she falls in love with him. When Velu learns that his hard-earned money has been stolen, he decides to take on the persona of Velayudham to seek justice and help the people affected by corruption and terrorism. Velayudham quickly gains public and police support and embarks on a mission to eradicate these problems.
However, tragedy strikes when terrorists target Velu’s village, resulting in a personal loss. Velu discovers that a corrupt Home Minister is indirectly responsible for the attacks and collaborates with the terrorists for personal gain. Velu returns to Chennai, confronts the terrorists, and exposes the Home Minister’s misdeeds. The film concludes with Velu promising to return as Velayudham in the future.
