Biography:

George Maryan, born on March 23, 1963, is an Indian actor and comedian renowned for his appearances in Tamil cinema. He initiated his career in theatre in 1989 and continued his theatrical performances until 2002. Subsequently, he transitioned into the realm of Tamil cinema, often taking on supporting and comedic roles. Maryan’s collaborations have been extensive, including partnerships with notable directors like A. L. Vijay, Siva, M. Manikandan, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Thangar Bachchan, Sundar C, and Priyadarshan.

George Maryan gained prominence as a Tamil film actor when he portrayed a hapless police officer in Priyadarshan’s “Kanchivaram” (2008). The casting director A. L. Vijay, who admired Maryan’s theatre work, played a pivotal role in bringing him into the film industry. Vijay subsequently cast Maryan in his own venture “Poi Solla Porom” (2008), followed by progressively larger roles in films like “Madrasapattinam” (2010) and “Deiva Thirumagal” (2011). His portrayal of a house servant in A. L. Vijay’s “Saivam” (2014) garnered critical acclaim, with reviewers praising his impeccable comic timing and emotive performances.

Maryan’s collaboration with director Sundar C has resulted in their joint work in films like “Aambala” and the “Kalakalappu” franchise.
