Tamil Nadu’s Chennai is the birthplace of Indian cinematographer Prasanna S. Kumar. Director Sasi is his cousin. He was paired with Poo cinematographer P. G. Muthiah in the early years of his career. Following a few years of collaboration, he went on to work on David (2013), Haridas (2013), and 1: Nenokkadine (2014) with R. Rathnavelu. He was friends with Ravi K Chandran as well. Sasi, the director, gave Pichaikkaran, his feature film debut.
