Bonda Mani is a renowned Indian actor known for his work in Tamil language films, where he has primarily taken on comedic and supporting roles in a staggering 270 films. His stage name, “Bonda Mani,” is a nod to his early days as an aspiring actor when he subsisted mainly on bondas. He also adopted the suffix “Mani” from his mentor, Goundamani. Originally named Kedheeswaran and hailing from Sri Lanka, his journey to stardom began when he crossed paths with director K. Bhagyaraj while working in Singapore during the 1980s. Later, this connection led to his entry into the film industry with a supporting role in “Pavunnu Pavunuthan” (1991).
Bonda Mani’s career took a significant turn when he received acclaim for his role in “Thendral Varum Theru” (1994). Throughout his career, he frequently collaborated with the legendary Tamil actor Vadivelu in various comedy tracks. Apart from his acting commitments, Bonda Mani also manages a stage drama troupe named “Sai Kalai Koodam” and organizes theatrical shows.
In a political move, Bonda Mani joined the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) political party in June 2016, along with some members of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He personally met Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to formalize his affiliation with the AIADMK, marking his foray into the realm of Tamil Nadu politics.
