Indian actress Hansika Motwani (born 9 August 1991) mostly appears in Tamil and Telugu films. Hansika’s acting career began when she was a young child in Hindi films. She later went on to play the lead in Telugu films including Desamuduru (2007), Kantri (2008), and Maska (2009). Mappillai (2011) marked the beginning of her career in Tamil film, and she subsequently starred in a number of financially lucrative productions, including Engeyum Kadhal (2011), Velayudham (2011), Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (2012), Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (2013), Singam II (2013), and Aranmanai (2014). She performed in the 2017 Malayalam movie Villain.
Shaka Laka Boom Boom, a television serial, served as Hansika’s debut project. Later, she performed in the Indian television series Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. She also starred alongside Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan in Koi… Mil Gaya as one of the kids.
She made her acting debut in 2007 at the age of 15 in the Telugu film Desamuduru directed by Puri Jagannadh. For her performance, she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. Later, she co-starred with Himesh Reshammiya in the Hindi film Aap Kaa Surroor.
Her first and only Kannada film to date is Bindaas, which debuted in 2008 and stars Puneeth Rajkumar. She made an appearance with Jr. NTR in Kantri later that year.
Mappillai served as Hansika’s film debut. Her next Tamil movie, Engeyum Kadhal, was a hit. She later went on to star in Velayudham that same year opposite Vijay. She released two films in 2012—one in Tamil and the other in Telugu. The romantic comedy film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, directed by M. Rajesh, was her debut release. It became her first big hit and received favourable reviews for her performance. She appeared in Denikaina Ready, a Telugu film that received favourable reviews from the general public.
For her work in the movies, she was nominated for Best Actress for the first time at the 60th Filmfare Awards South. She had four Tamil film appearances in 2013, including Settai, Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru by Sundar C., Hari’s Singam II, which starred Suriya, and Venkat Prabhu’s Biriyani, which starred Suriya’s brother Karthi. In 2014, she had five releases, including the comedy Pandavulu Pandavulu Tummed and the action-masala movie Power, both in Telugu. Aranmanai, a horror comedy directed by Sivakarthikeyan Sundar C., and Meaghamann, an action thriller, were two of her Tamil films.
Her debut album in 2017 was titled Bogan, which received favourable reviews. She received high marks from several critics for her work in the pre-climax and introduction scenes. She performed in the Telugu movie Luckunnodu as well. with 2017, she made her Malayalam cinema debut with Villain.
Her first film of the year was Gulaebaghavali, in which she portrayed Viji, a con artist. Vikram Prabhu-starring Thuppakki Munai was her other 2018 release. In the year 2019, she co-starred with Atharvaa in the Sam Anton-directed Tamil film 100 and with Sundeep Kishan in the Telugu film Tenali Ramakrishna BA. BL.
In Maha (2022), Hansika Motwani took the lead role in her 50th movie.
