Rajendran started his cinema career as a stunt double for more than a thousand South Indian films, primarily Tamil films.
He made his full-fledged acting debut as a villain in Naan Kadavul (2009) after having a small but essential role in Pithamagan (2003). The critic who noted that he is “menacing and loathsome” praised his portrayal of a harsh leader who tortures beggars. He claims he was typecast in parts similar to his evil comedic performance in Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010). In Thirudan Police (2014), he plays a killer who dresses as a woman, and critics praised him as “the ultimate show stealer and his already popular lady makeover clinches it big time.
His first film to be released in 2015 was Darling, in which he portrayed Ghost Gopal Varma from Ghostbusters. According to The Times of India, “His bald head, thin figure, and sandpapery voice make him effective for both villain and comical roles, but it is clear that he has made much more impact as a comedian from the screams and whistles that his character gets.”Ivanuku Thannila Gandam (2015), his second release of the year, featured him in the role of a murderer. Rajendran’s appearance in the movie’s advertising videos was well-received before its release. The movie received mixed reviews, but critics praised Rajendran for his performance, saying that “the film belongs to Rajendran as he comes out with his trademark dialogue delivery and carries the movie.”
