An Indian actor who appeared in Telugu films was named Ahuti Prasad. He was well known for playing a wide range of characters, including father figures, comedians, and antagonists. In a nearly three-decade-long career, Prasad appeared in over 150 films. He earned the nickname “Ahuti” after playing the villain in the 1988 movie Ahuti.
He’s been honoured with two Nandi Awards. Ahuti Prasad was a well-known character actor in Telugu cinema. In the Andhra Pradesh region’s Krishna district, he was born in 1958. Adusumilli Janardhan Vara Prasad was his given name. His parents were Hymavati and Ranga Rao.In 1986, Ahuti Prasad began his acting career in the Telugu film “Vikram.”
This was Akkineni Nagarjuna’s first film. Prasad was raised in the Karnataka town of Raichur. He developed an interest in acting and began to harbour aspirations of being a successful actor while pursuing his bachelor’s degree. After receiving his diploma, he travelled to Hyderabad to enrol in a film school. V. Madhusudhan Rao, the director, oversaw its management.
His instructor V. Madhusudhan Rao directed his first film. He has performed numerous character roles as well as villain roles in numerous films. He has worked as Madhusudhan Rao’s assistant director in addition to performing. He began going by the moniker Ahuti Prasad after appearing in the movie “Ahuti.”His two Nandi Awards—one for best villain and one for best character actor—were given out to him.
‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’ and ‘Nimirndhu Nil’ are two Tamil films in which he has appeared as an actor. His final motion picture, “Rudhramadevi,” came out on October 9, 2015. Cancer claimed Ahuti Prasad’s life on January 4, 2015. His wife Vijaya Nirmala, his two sons Bharani Prasad and Karthik Prasad, and themselves survive him.
Prasad’s career began with the Nagarjuna-starring movie Vikram, which was directed by V. Madhusudhana Rao. Prasad further served as V. Madhusudana Rao’s associate director on the movie Malle Moggalu. He was working on the set of the movie Ee Prasnaku Baduledi when producer Shyam Prasad came across him and gave him a part as the antagonist in his movie Ahuti.
He got his big break thanks to the movie, and he became known as Ahuti Prasad. Prasad claimed that Krishna Vamsi’s portrayal of Ninne Pelladata was essential in advancing his status as a character artist and that the popularity of the movie led to an influx of job offers. His performance in the movie Nenu Ninnu Premistunnanu earned him the 2003 Nandi Award for Best Villain.
He won a Nandi Award for Best Character Actor in 2008 for his role as an alcoholic landlord in the movie Chandamama. Prasad received accolades for his proficiency with the distinctive East and West Godavari Telugu dialect, a skill he displayed in a variety of roles throughout his career. He started off playing the bad guy, but over the course of his career, he moved on to different shades. In a number of films, including Malliswari, Bendu Apparao RMP, Kotha Bangaru Lokam, and Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Prasad was recognised for portraying the father figure for a character.
Character actors “do get to do more experimental and challenging roles,” according to Prasad, who said that they “survive on such [unique] characters.” Prasad collaborated with actor Allari Naresh on several movies, and the actor noted that Prasad “used to do a lot of homework on the background of his character in a movie” and that he “always thinks of others’ welfare along with his [own] welfare.”
While receiving treatment for colon cancer at KIMS hospital, Prasad passed away on January 4, 2015. Up until his dying days, little was known about his health. Prasad “did not like to meet anyone during his last days because cancer made his condition very pitiful,” according to Murali Mohan.Numerous members of the film industry paid their tributes as his body was brought to his Film Nagar house. The cremation cemetery at Erragadda is where his final rituals were conducted. Prasad went away before his final three movies were released.
