Varudu

“Varudu,” released in 2010, is an Indian Telugu-language romantic action film directed by Gunasekhar, marking his tenth directorial venture. The film features Allu Arjun, Arya, and Bhanu Sri Mehra in leading roles, with support from Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Ashish Vidyarthi, and Brahmanandam, among others. D. V. V. Danayya produced the film, and the music was composed by Mani Sharma. However, despite its anticipation, the movie, which hit theaters on March 31, 2010, was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews and failed at the box office.

The plot of “Varudu” revolves around Sandeep ‘Sandy’ (played by Allu Arjun), a modern young man who enjoys a carefree lifestyle but holds traditional beliefs when it comes to marriage. After securing a job in the United States, his parents, Vasundhara (Suhasini) and Raj Gopal (Ashish Vidyarthi), urge him to get married. Sandy agrees but insists on marrying a girl of their choice in a five-day-long ceremony, refusing to meet his bride until the wedding day. His wish is granted, and he is set to marry Deepthi (Bhanu Sri Mehra).

During the ceremony, Sandy and Deepthi catch sight of each other and instantly fall in love. However, their happiness is short-lived as Deepthi is abducted by a local gangster named Diwakar (Arya). Sandy’s family suggests he marry someone else, but he remains steadfast in his determination to find Deepthi.

He eventually discovers her location and the reason behind her kidnapping—she had slapped Diwakar for misbehavior in public. Tragically, the police attempting to rescue Deepthi are killed by Diwakar and his henchmen.

In a bid to rescue Deepthi, Sandy takes matters into his own hands by kidnapping Diwakar’s brother, Prabhakar, and threatening to harm him unless Deepthi is released. Diwakar reluctantly releases Deepthi, but a tense confrontation ensues in which Prabhakar is killed by Diwakar as he desires Deepthi. In the ensuing brawl, Sandy challenges Diwakar to attempt another kidnapping at their wedding, a challenge that Diwakar accepts.

Sandy and Deepthi manage to marry successfully, following all the rituals. However, as they step out of the wedding ceremony, Diwakar attacks Sandy. A fierce battle unfolds, during which Sandy confronts Diwakar and ultimately defeats him. The film concludes with Sandy and Deepthi living happily ever after.
