TheatreShankara (2016), a Telugu film helmed by director Tatineni Satya. Nara Rohit takes center stage as the titular character, navigating a captivating story alongside the talented Regina Cassandra.
Shankara’s turbulent spirit fuels his struggles to fit in, his anger erupting into trouble, a constant thorn in his family’s side. Forced to flee to Hyderabad, he seeks solace in an arts college, unaware of the web he’s about to walk into.
Meanwhile, a dark secret simmers – corrupt cops stumbling upon hidden cash, silencing the only witness with brutal force. Enter Rajeswari, a determined SP, vowing to unravel the truth. In the college’s shadow, hidden among petty thefts, Maya’s camera, holding the key to everything, falls into Shankar’s unsuspecting hands. Accused, wrongly labelled, he finds himself caught in a game far deadlier than he imagined.
Shankar’s entanglement with a web of police corruption deepens as Rajeev, under Prasad’s orders, joins in the illegal cover-up. Maya’s friends face danger, leading to a tense confrontation in the forest. Doubts cloud Rajeev’s mind, and eventually, Shankar escapes back to the city, haunted by the truth.
Framed by Prasad and his corrupt team, Shankar finds himself labelled mentally unstable and confined to an asylum. Ananya, his sister-in-law, stumbles upon his plight and witnesses the cruel mistreatment. Shankar’s spirit refuses to be broken, and with Ananya’s help, he manages a daring escape.
Together, they seek justice from Superintendent Rajeswari. Evidence is pieced together, leading to the shocking revelation that the camera wasn’t stolen by Shankar, but by the college principal’s son. This tragic mistake triggers a chain of events, culminating in Shankar’s wrongful imprisonment.
The truth shines through, exposing Prasad’s corruption and freeing Shankar from the web of lies. Rajeev, choosing the path of redemption, becomes a key witness, aiding Rajeswari in bringing the culprits to justice.
Rajeswari’s pursuit of justice takes a complex turn when political pressure intervenes. Higher authorities urge her to downplay the case due to its sensitive nature, leaving her with difficult choices. Meanwhile, the corrupt officers face repercussions from their internal affairs inquiry, further muddying the situation.
Shankar, caught in the crossfire, witnesses his brother’s abduction and endures threats against his family. Forced to make a heartbreaking decision, he collaborates with Rajeev to bring down the corrupt trio. A tense confrontation ensues, resulting in casualties within the officers’ ranks, but ultimately exposing their wrongdoings.
The legal system, grappling with the tangled web of lies and coercion, sentences Shankar to a rehabilitation program while the other surviving officer faces departmental action. After serving his time, Shankar rebuilds his life, finding purpose and peace in his new path. He marries Ananya and dedicates his time to helping others, forging a brighter future despite the lingering shadows of the past.
