NABarbara Eder, Luke Watson, and Philipp Stölzl are the directors of the German co-produced science fiction television series The Swarm (German: Der Schwarm). The series, which is based on Frank Schätzing’s novel, shows an enigmatic deep-sea intellect struggling with aggressiveness in response to environmental harm inflicted by humans.
The first three episodes were presented out of competition at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival in Berlinale Series on February 19, 2023. With an estimated budget of €40 million, it is the most costly German television series ever made in English. The Swarm debuted on ZDF from February 22 until March 8, 2023.
