Ivan Rodrigues, originally from Karnataka, India, is an accomplished film and theater actor now based in Mumbai. He was born on November 23, 1968, in Mumbai to parents Robert and Nancy Rodrigues, who themselves hailed from Mangalore, Karnataka, before relocating to Mumbai.
During his school days and within the parish community, Ivan actively participated in plays. His journey in professional theater commenced with the musical production of “Godspell,” directed by Joel Furtado and performed by St. Michael’s Parish in Mahim. Ivan graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Mahim in 1984, earning the second position in his school.
His academic pursuits led him to graduate in Commerce from Sydenham College in 1989, followed by an MBA in Marketing from S.P. Jain in 1991.
After dedicating 19 years to a senior marketing role in the corporate world, Ivan decided to leave his job in 2009 to pursue his true passion for acting full-time.
During his final year at Sydenham College in 1989, Ivan received awards for Best Play, Best Director, and Best Actor for his performance in the play “The Chairs,” written by Eugène Ionesco, at the prestigious Dr. S. K. Muranjan intra-college competition. This event led to an invitation from Mr. Dandavate, the then Chairman of the NCPA, to stage “The Chairs” at the Little Theatre, NCPA. The production garnered critical acclaim for its portrayal of aging characters.
