Rallapalli Venkata Narasimha Rao (15 August 1945 – 17 May 2019), popularly known as Rallapalli, was a distinguished Indian actor renowned for his significant contributions primarily in Telugu cinema and television.
Hailing from Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh, he marked his presence in the entertainment industry and earned recognition through his remarkable performances. Rallapalli’s exceptional talents earned him two state Nandi Awards for his outstanding work.
Commencing his artistic journey as a theatre performer in 1960, Rallapalli eventually ventured into the world of cinema. His debut in the movie “Sthree” in 1974 marked the beginning of a prolific film career. With a filmography of approximately 850 films, he portrayed an array of roles, including lead characters.
Notably, he also held a position as a staff artiste in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. His versatility extended beyond Telugu cinema, as he played pivotal roles in Tamil films like “Bombay” and “Minsara Kanavu.”
Tragically, Rallapalli’s life came to an end on 17 May 2019 at Maxcure Hospital, Hyderabad, due to health complications. His legacy as a talented actor and his contributions to Indian cinema continue to be celebrated and remembered by fans and the industry alike.
