Theatre“Ninnu Choodalani,” a Telugu romantic drama film from 2001 directed by V. R. Prathap, marked the debut of N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Raveena Rajput in lead roles. Unfortunately, the film did not fare well at the box office.
The story is set in the twin cities and centers around two prominent sweet shop owners, Siva Reddy (played by K Vishwanath) and Sahadeva Reddy (played by Kaikala Satyanarayana). Venu (N. T. Rama Rao Jr.) is Siva Reddy’s teenage grandson, while Siri (Raveena Rajput) is Sahadeva Reddy’s granddaughter. Venu falls head over heels for Siri when he first sees her on Holi day and decides to use her photograph for a billboard in Abids, urging her to call him.
Things get complicated when Siri’s parents spot her portrait on the advertisement for Siva Reddy sweets, leading to heightened rivalry between Siva Reddy and Sahadeva Reddy. Siri reciprocates Venu’s feelings because of the attention he showers on her, given that she’s neglected in her own home. Meanwhile, it’s election season, and Siva Reddy and Sahadeva Reddy are nominated as MLAs from opposing parties. They instruct their grandchildren to avoid each other until the elections are over.
Venu heads to Shimla with his uncle, and Siri visits her relative’s village. Frustrated by her parents’ attempts to arrange her marriage, Siri embarks on a solo journey to Shimla to find Venu. The rest of the story revolves around how the young lovers reunite and bridge the gaps between their feuding families.
