Biography:

Siddharth Suryanarayan, commonly known as Siddharth, is a versatile Indian actor with a career spanning Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi language films. His involvement in the film industry extends beyond acting; he has worked as a screenwriter, producer, and playback singer. Siddharth’s journey in the entertainment world began after completing his business management studies, where he initially assisted acclaimed director Mani Ratnam.

He made his acting debut in S. Shankar’s Tamil film “Boys” (2003), which paved the way for his success in the multi-starrer “Aayutha Ezhuthu” (2004) by Mani Ratnam. The turning point in Siddharth’s career came with the critical and commercial success of “Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana” (2005) in Telugu and films like “Rang De Basanti” and “Bommarillu” (2006) in Hindi and Telugu, respectively.

The late 2000s saw him establish himself as a lead actor in Telugu cinema, with notable performances in “Striker” (2010) and “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” (2011). After a sabbatical, he returned to Tamil cinema with the commercially successful “Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi” (2012). Born on April 17, 1979, in Chennai, Siddharth pursued his education in Delhi and later completed his MBA.

His early exposure to the film industry came through dubbing for a mosquito repellent ad in multiple languages. Despite his inclination towards films, Siddharth initially enrolled in business school as a safety measure. His passion for writing and directing led him to explore amateur theatre and eventually work as an assistant director for Mani Ratnam. Siddharth’s foray into Telugu cinema began with “Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana” (2005), showcasing his dedication by learning Telugu for the film. The success of the movie prompted him to shift his base to Hyderabad and focus on Telugu films.

His Hindi film “Rang De Basanti” (2006) earned him accolades, and he continued his successful stint with the blockbuster “Bommarillu.” The actor’s diverse filmography includes projects like “Striker” (2010), where he portrayed a carrom player, and the fantasy film “Anaganaga O Dheerudu” (2011). Despite facing setbacks with films like “Baava” (2010), Siddharth maintained his commitment to quality over quantity.

His return to Tamil cinema in 2014 with “Jigarthanda” and “Kaaviya Thalaivan” showcased his versatility and earned critical acclaim. Siddharth’s venture into production with “Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi” marked a successful transition to filmmaking. In 2013, he appeared in seven films across four languages, displaying his versatility. The historical fiction film “Kaaviya Thalaivan” (2014) garnered praise for Siddharth’s portrayal of a Madras theatre artist.

In 2015, Siddharth featured in “Enakkul Oruvan,” a remake of the Kannada film “Lucia,” showcasing his ability to handle dual roles. Despite commercial setbacks with some films, he continued to experiment with his choices, taking a brief break from the industry. Siddharth’s return in 2016 with “Jil Jung Juk” and “Aranmanai 2” demonstrated his commitment to varied genres.

The bilingual thriller “Aval” (2017) showcased his skills as a co-writer and actor. In 2018, he entered Malayalam cinema with “Kammara Sambhavam.” The actor’s journey extended to the digital space with the Hindi TV series “Leila” in 2019. He continued his presence in Tamil cinema with films like “Sivappu Manjal Pachai” and “Aruvam.” Siddharth’s foray into Telugu cinema continued with “Maha Samudram” (2021), alongside Sharwanand.
