Principal photography commenced in July 2018, leading to the film’s release on September 6, 2019, receiving positive reviews and achieving decent success at the box office.
The narrative revolves around Madhan (G. V. Prakash Kumar), a brash street racer living in the city with his elder sister Raji, affectionately known as Poonai (Lijomol Jose). Orphaned in their childhood, the siblings find solace in the care of their aunt Dhanalakshmi, portrayed by Nakkalites Dhanam. Madhan’s life takes a romantic turn with his love interest, Kavin (Kashmira Pardeshi). However, the dynamics shift dramatically when Raji becomes entangled in a marriage alliance with Rajashekar (Siddharth), a stern traffic police officer.
“Sivappu Manjal Pachai” is a film portraying the redemption and unity of Madhan and Rajashekar. The film navigates through themes of forgiveness, self-discovery, and the enduring bonds of family, leaving the audience with a resonant and satisfying cinematic experience.
The film opens with sparks flying between Madhan and Rajashekar, as the latter nabs Madhan for street racing, subjecting him to public humiliation by dressing him in a girl’s attire. As the story unfolds, tensions rise when a marriage proposal surfaces between Raji and Rajashekar. Madhan struggles to overcome the humiliation, seeing Rajashekar and Raji as adversaries. Despite his objections, Raji marries Rajashekar and becomes pregnant.
Amidst these complexities, Madhan faces further challenges when his bike is stolen, and he is wrongfully accused of chain snatching. The police arrest and beat him, exacerbating his animosity towards Rajashekar. However, the narrative takes an emotional turn when Rajashekar intervenes, rescuing Madhan and offering him refuge in his home. This sets the stage for a poignant melodrama between Madhan and Raji, exploring themes of family, forgiveness, and redemption.
The plot thickens with the introduction of Madhu (Madhusudhan Rao), a Chennai-based drug dealer whose nefarious activities draw the attention of Rajashekar. Seeking assistance from the central vigilance team, Rajashekar aims to dismantle Madhu’s drug operations. The storyline intensifies as Madhu, attempting to evade capture, orchestrates a daring escape from the hospital.
Simultaneously, Madhan and Raji mourn the loss of their aunt, and familial dynamics come into play as they navigate the challenges that follow. Madhan, driven by a desire for justice, discovers the identity of the thieves responsible for his bike’s theft. However, the pursuit of justice takes a turn as the thief, aligned with political influence and lacking sufficient evidence, challenges Madhan to a high-stakes race. The conditions stipulate that if Madhan wins, the thief will surrender, and Madhan’s bike will be returned.
In a gripping race, the thief inflicts severe injuries on Madhan, prompting a dramatic turn of events. Rajashekar intervenes, helping Madhan secure victory and reclaim his stolen bike. The narrative reaches its climax when Madhu’s henchmen kidnap both Rajashekar and Madhan. A fierce confrontation unfolds, resulting in Rajashekar’s heroic act to save Madhan, sacrificing himself in the process.
Realizing the gravity of his past grievances, Madhan undergoes a transformative journey. In a retaliation against Madhu’s goons, he unleashes a wave of justice, avenging Rajashekar’s sacrifice. The film concludes with Madhu’s arrest, bringing closure to the tumultuous events.
