Theatre“Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam” is a warm and charming Telugu romantic comedy film released in 2009. It marked the first time Kishore Kumar Pardasani directed a movie and featured a fantastic cast, including Siddharth, Tamannaah Bhatia, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, and Nassar. Supporting roles were played by Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav, while the musical score was crafted by the talented Mani Sharma.
The film isn’t just a romantic comedy; it’s a celebration of love, determination, and the belief that relationships can conquer even the toughest challenges. With its engaging story and excellent performances, the movie stands as proof of the transformative power of love in bringing people together and changing lives.
The story follows Geeta, who grows up in a small village under the loving care of her father, Subramanyam. Their bond is strong, and Subramanyam takes care of everything for his beloved daughter. When Geeta goes to Hyderabad for higher education, she stays with her uncle Gachibowli Diwakar. It’s here that she meets Siddharth, also known as Siddhu, a friend of her cousin. Fate brings them together, and their initial meeting turns into a deep and genuine love.
Siddhu, despite being playful and carefree, carries the weight of family troubles. He opens up to Geeta about his parents’ divorce, but Geeta, undeterred by Siddhu’s past, reciprocates his love. The story takes a turn when Siddhu decides to seek Geeta’s father Subramanyam’s blessing for their marriage. However, Subramanyam, holding traditional views, refuses, believing his daughter deserves a marriage into a large, united family and is against marrying her into a situation where the groom’s parents are divorced.
Undeterred by the initial refusal, Siddhu, determined to win Subramanyam’s approval, proposes a unique condition. He suggests that he will only marry Geeta if his parents reconcile and live together. Intrigued and perhaps testing Siddhu’s sincerity, Subramanyam agrees. This sets the stage for the film’s central theme—the challenging journey of Siddhu and Geeta to reunite Siddhu’s parents, Prakash and Rajyalakshmi.
As the story unfolds, the audience is taken on an emotional journey, witnessing the sincere efforts and trials of Siddhu and Geeta. The couple faces numerous challenges as they work to bring Prakash and Rajyalakshmi back together. The emotional depth of the story is highlighted during a heartfelt conversation between Siddhu and Prakash. While driving to his mother’s home, Siddhu shares his experiences and expresses the belief that Prakash should have fought for his love when his parents separated. This conversation becomes a turning point, revealing Siddhu’s unwavering commitment to love and family.
Despite setbacks and occasional failures, Siddhu remains determined. His persistent efforts pay off as he successfully reunites his parents. Simultaneously, Geeta’s father, Subramanyam, unintentionally becomes an ally in uniting the other lovers, Geeta and Siddhu. The film concludes beautifully, showcasing the triumph of love, family, and the indomitable spirit of those willing to challenge societal norms for true happiness.
In essence, “Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam” is more than a romantic comedy; it’s a heartwarming story about love overcoming obstacles and the power of persistence in the face of societal expectations. The engaging narrative and outstanding performances make it a testament to the enduring strength of love in bringing people together.
