Anurag Saikia, born in December 1988, is a talented Indian composer of film scores, a music director, music producer, and instrumentalist hailing from Assam, India. He holds the distinction of being one of the youngest composers to receive the Rajat Kamal award for Best Non-Feature Film Music Direction, specifically for his work on the movie “Yugadrashta.”
His mother, Dipali Saikia, is an artist and educator at All India Radio, while his father, Dr. Anil Saikia, is an academician recognized for his efforts in preserving and popularizing the folk culture and music of Assam. Dr. Anil Saikia was honored with the Pratima Barua Pandey Memorial Award on December 27, 2011, in acknowledgment of his contributions.
After completing his education at Cotton College, Anurag pursued further studies at the Swarnabhumi Academy of Music (SAM) in Chennai. Notably, he has recently composed music for the film “Thappad.” He has collaborated with prominent artists such as Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh.
An innovative aspect of Saikia’s work is his endeavor to synchronize Borgeets with symphonic orchestration, showcasing his inventive approach to musical composition.
