Plot
In 2006, a group of friends from an arts club in Kochi embark on a journey to Kodaikanal in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu. During their exploration, they learn about Guna Caves, a location where the movie “Gunaa” was filmed. Despite warnings from Dominic, a tourist guide, the friends, intoxicated and in high spirits, decide to venture into the restricted sections of the caves on their own. Despite indications of potential danger, they continue their exploration.
While inside, some of the friends decide to inscribe their group name, “Manjummel Boys,” on the cave walls. As they call out to their friends to take a picture, Subhash, one of them, falls into a covered hole. Initially, they believe it to be a prank, but when Subhash doesn’t respond, panic sets in. Some rush to seek help, while others stay behind, hoping for a response from Subhash.
After informing the locals, who reveal the history of the area and its dangers, the friends head to the police station. However, they face accusations of murder and false complaints. Despite their pleas, they are initially met with resistance from the police. Eventually, the inspector agrees to accompany them to the cave.
Upon arrival, they learn about the perilous history of the cave and the challenges of rescue attempts. Despite the risks, the friends are determined to save Subhash. With no help from the fire department, one friend, Siju David, volunteers to descend into the hole. Despite initial reluctance, he is eventually lowered down and manages to locate Subhash, injured but alive.
With great effort, they successfully rescue Subhash and return home, keeping the incident to themselves. However, news of Siju’s bravery spreads, and he is hailed as a hero. Two years later, he is honored with a medal for his courageous act.
