Jean Paul Lal

Biography:

Jean Paul Lal, born on 2 June 1988 in Kochi to director Lal and Nancy, has garnered recognition in the Malayalam film industry. His sister Monica Lal is currently pursuing her post-graduation in London. Having graduated from the New York Film Academy, Jean Paul Lal, commonly known as Lal Jr., made his directorial debut with the immensely successful ‘Honey Bee,’ featuring Asif Ali, Bhavana, and Lal himself.

Apart from directing, Lal Jr. has also dabbled in acting, notably in the film ‘Cobra’ in 2012, directed by his father. His directorial ventures include ‘Honey Bee’ (2013), ‘Hi I’m Tony’ (2014), and ‘King Liar’ (2016).

Lal Jr. is a Roman Catholic and holds a significant position within the Archdiocese of Verapoly. He is easily recognizable by his full beard, which he proudly maintains despite receiving daily advice to shave. He considers his beard a symbol of his family’s heritage. Lal Jr. tied the knot with Blessy Susan Varghese on 26 December 2013 at the Vallarpadom Church in Cochin, followed by a lavish reception at the Bolgatti Palace.

The wedding reception was nothing short of a fairy tale, adorned with colorful lights and flowers. The newlyweds made a grand entrance on a luxury sports motorcycle, accompanied by groomsmen. The event was attended by esteemed personalities from the cinematic, social, and political spheres, including Minister K Babu, Mohanlal, Mammootty, and many others. The evening was complete with a three-tier wedding cake and an elaborate spread of delicacies.
