Biography:

Chidambaram S. Poduval is a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, known for his roles as a writer and director, particularly in Malayalam cinema. Born on June 29th in Kannur, he hails from a family with ties to the entertainment world, being the elder brother of Ganapathi S. Poduval, a well-known Malayalam actor.

Chidambaram has honed his skills in direction and camera operation, gaining extensive experience in various aspects of filmmaking since 2008, including documentary production, media projects, and commercial cinema.

He gained widespread recognition for his debut feature film, “Jan-E-Man,” a romantic comedy that resonated with audiences. Collaborating with his brother Ganapathi, who also starred in the film, Chidambaram co-wrote and directed “Jan-E-Man.” The film delves not only into romantic relationships but also explores themes of friendship and family. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie was efficiently shot in Kochi within a span of 35 days. Chidambaram worked alongside renowned cinematographers Rajeev Ravi and KU Mohanan, and he also served as an assistant director to Jayaraj. Additionally, he is a co-founder of two media startups.

Chidambaram’s directorial venture “Manjummel Boys” premiered on February 22nd, 2024. Inspired by a true story, the film revolves around a group of boys from Manjummel, Kerala, embarking on a memorable trip to Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu. Produced by Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir, and Shawn Antony on a moderate budget, the film exceeded expectations, grossing over Rs 166 crores at the box office. Shot against the stunning backdrop of Kodaikanal’s Gunaa caves, the movie resonated well with Tamil audiences.
