Shyju Khalid is an Indian cinematographer, film director, and producer known for his contributions to Malayalam cinema. He made his debut as a cinematographer with the film “Traffic” in 2011, marking the beginning of a successful career. His notable works include “22 Female Kottayam” (2012), “Idukki Gold” (2013), “Maheshinte Prathikaaram” (2016), “5 Sundarikal” (2013), “Sudani From Nigeria” (2018), “Ee.Ma.Yau” (2018), and “Kumbalangi Nights” (2019). As a member of the Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC), he has been recognized for his exceptional talent in the field. Additionally, he shares familial ties with film director Khalid Rahman and cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, who are his brothers.
In 2011, director Aashiq Abu recommended Shyju Khalid as a cinematographer for the Rajesh Pillai-directed film “Traffic,” which marked a turning point in his career. His outstanding work in this film garnered widespread acclaim. Subsequently, he collaborated with Aashiq Abu again in the film “Salt and Pepper” (2011) and “22 Female Kottayam” (2012). In 2013, Khalid directed a segment in the anthology film “5 Sundarikal.” Additionally, he has ventured into film production, co-producing notable films such as “Chandrettan Evideya,” “Kali,” “Sudani from Nigeria,” and “Thamaasha” under the banners Handmade Films and Happy Hours Entertainments.
