Sailesh Kolanu, an Indian director, was born and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father worked as a production manager for the late filmmaker Kodi Ramakrishna. He completed his education at the Bausch and Lomb School of Optometry at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Hyderabad Campus. Later, he pursued a PhD in optometry at the University of New South Wales before venturing into filmmaking.
Kolanu debuted in the film industry with the short film “Checklist” in 2018, created for the 50-hour filmmaking challenge organized by IFP (Independent Filmmakers Platform). He then directed his first feature film, “HIT: The First Case,” produced by Nani. The film was a commercial success. In 2022, he expanded the HIT franchise by directing “HIT: The Second Case,” which received positive reception. During the mid-credits scene of “HIT: The Second Case,” starring Nani, he announced “HIT: The Third Case.” He has established the HIT Universe through these films.
