Double Barrel

Story:

“Double Barrel” is a 2015 Indian Malayalam-language parody gangster film. It was written, directed, and co-produced by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The movie was a joint production of August Cinema and Amen Movie Monastery. The film features a large ensemble cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran, Indrajith Sukumaran, Arya, Chemban Vinod Jose, Sunny Wayne, Swathi Reddy, Isha Sharvani, Vijay Babu, Poornima Indrajith, Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, Thomas Berly, Sherrin Varghese, Parvathi Menon, Sabumon Abdusamad, Rachana Narayanankutty, Anil Murali, Asif Ali, and Pearle Maaney. Prashant Pillai composed the music, while Abinandhan Ramanujam handled cinematography and Manoj-Sathyaraj Natarajan took care of the editing.

The movie was released on 28 August 2015. It received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and did not perform well at the box office initially. However, over time, it gained a cult following.

The plot revolves around two precious stones named Laila and Majnu, which hold value only when they are together. These stones are in the possession of a crime boss known as “Don” in Goa. Don, fearing that his son Gabbar might take them, decides to sell the stones. He approaches two experienced gangsters named Pancho and Vinci and offers them for a price of ₹10 crore. However, Gabbar’s man Billy learns about this and offers Pancho and Vinci ₹100 crore to buy the stones. Pancho and Vinci manage to get ₹5 crore from Blacky, which actually belongs to the Tarkovs, a Russian mob in Goa. They plan to rob the remaining ₹5 crore from the black money of the Podiyadis, a local hawala gang in Kerala. However, during the deal, things go awry, leading to a big gang war between all the groups involved. Pancho and Vinci manage to escape from the gang war with the money and join Laila and Majnu.
