Varanasi OTT Deal Takes An Interesting Turn

Rajamouli is busy working on Varanasi, a mythological action drama starring Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 7th 2027. The team have been in talks to close the digital rights deal for a long time.

According to reports, Netflix offered Rs 150 crore for the digital rights across all languages, but the amount was reportedly lower than expected.

Rajamouli is now planning to sell the rights separately across different platforms. Talks are reportedly underway with Netflix and JioHotstar.

The makers plan to sell South Indian language rights and Hindi rights separately to recover a major part of the film’s budget. KL Narayana is producing the film.
