Isha Sharvani, an Indian contemporary dancer and actress, is celebrated for her distinctive Indian contemporary and aerial dance performances. Born in Gujarat, India, she is the eldest daughter of renowned danseuse Daksha Sheth and Australian musician Dev Issaro. Raised in a culturally rich environment, she lived in various cities including Ahmedabad, Delhi, Vrindavan, Bangalore, before settling in Trivandrum. Her upbringing was deeply rooted in the arts, as her parents founded the Academy for Art Research, Training, and Innovation (AARTI) in Trivandrum.
At the age of thirteen, Isha began her formal dance training under her mother’s guidance, learning various forms including Kalaripayattu, Kathak, and Chhau dance. Over the years, she honed her skills and showcased her talent on stages across 22 countries. Trained extensively in Malkam dance, a folk dance form, Isha’s dedication to her craft was evident as she spent hours training daily in a disciplined atmosphere.
Although acting was not her primary focus, filmmaker Subhash Ghai recognized her talent and offered her a role in his movie “Kisna” (2005), where she starred opposite Vivek Oberoi. Despite the film’s reception, Isha continued to mesmerize audiences with her dance performances on stage and in various commercials.
In 2012, she participated in the dance reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 5,” showcasing her dancing prowess and earning acclaim for her performances. Subsequently, she ventured into acting in films, appearing in projects like the Malayalam short film “Esha” (2013) and the acclaimed film “Iyobinte Pustakam” (2014), where she portrayed the lead role.
