Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is where Abinandhan Ramanujam was born. He received a gold award from L.V. Prasad Film and TV Academy upon graduation. Later, he completed a course in visual communication at Coimbatore’s Dr. G. R. Damodaran College of Science. Abinandhan has had a fascination with photography since a young age. His bank officer father Ramanujam constantly supported him in his career. His father had an ancient Yashica camera; he used it to hone his photography talents while his father watched over it and offered advice. He used to keep himself occupied by doing various film-related tasks.
Bejoy Nambiar provided Abinandhan with his first opportunity. When Nambiar’s friend and assistant Akshay, the son of Sreekar Prasad, brought up Abinandhan, they were filming for his MTV series Rush. The series’ cinematographer then called him with his camera to Mumbai. Abinandhan was contacted during this time by Lijo Jose Pellissery, who had previously directed two episodes of the MTV series, to serve as the cinematographer for his subsequent movie, Amen (2013). His film Double Barrel is well-known for its unique shots.
