Theatre“Singam II” is a 2013 Indian Tamil-language action film, directed and written by Hari. It is the sequel to the 2010 film “Singam” and is the second installment in the Singam film series. The movie stars Suriya, Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, and Danny Sapani. Produced by S. Lakshman Kumar and featuring music and score composed by Devi Sri Prasad, “Singam II” was released on July 5, 2013.
The film’s plot unfolds eight months after the events of the previous installment, with Durai Singam working undercover as an NCC master in a Thoothukudi school to investigate illegal activities in the city. Only the Chief Minister and Home Minister are aware of this operation. Durai Singam’s family, especially his father Soundarapandi, is unhappy with his decision to leave the police force and is concerned about his proposed marriage to Kavya. As Singam investigates the criminal activities, he discovers the influential crime boss Thangaraj and his partnership with a coastal gangster named Bhai, who has international connections with the drug lord Michael Kong, also known as Danny. Singam, unaware of these connections, places Bhai under surveillance in his off-duty hours.
The plot intensifies when Bhai’s henchman, Saghayam, kidnaps a girl, sparking riots between the two gangs. Singam is eventually appointed as the new DSP and successfully rescues the girl. Despite some initial family conflicts, it becomes evident that Singam and Kavya are deeply in love. Singam confronts the criminal activities of Thangaraj and Bhai, leading to the arrest of Saghayam and Danny. In retaliation, Bhai’s gang attempts to free their imprisoned associates. Singam is suspended but later reinstated and authorized to take drastic measures to tackle the drug trade. He successfully thwarts Bhai’s attempts and ultimately goes to South Africa to apprehend Danny, where the film concludes with Singam’s promotion to DCP.
“Singam II” is a high-octane action film with Durai Singam taking on criminals and drug lords, ultimately emerging victorious and earning a well-deserved promotion for his efforts.
