G. V. Prakash Kumar is a multi-talented Indian artist known for his contributions as a music composer, playback singer, actor, and producer, primarily in Tamil films and a few Telugu films. He made his debut as a vocalist in the Tamil film “Gentleman” in 1993, which was composed by his maternal uncle, the legendary A. R. Rahman. His breakthrough as a music composer came with the critically acclaimed film “Veyil” in 2006, and he gained widespread recognition in the early 2010s. Not only a skilled composer, but he has also sung for various other renowned composers like Harris Jayaraj.
Apart from his musical success, G. V. Prakash Kumar ventured into acting in 2015 with the film “Darling,” a horror film and remake of a Telugu movie. He subsequently appeared in several other films, showcasing his acting talent and gaining popularity as an actor as well. Notably, he took on roles in movies like “Trisha Illana Nayanthara,” “Naachiyaar,” and “Semma.”
As a film producer, Prakash established his own production house named “GV Prakash Kumar Productions” and produced his first film, “Madha Yaanai Koottam” in 2013. Additionally, he has been recognized and awarded for his music compositions, winning a National Award and three Filmfare Awards throughout his illustrious career.
In 2020, Prakash’s musical talent was showcased in films like “Asuran” and “Soorarai Pottru,” while his acting projects included movies like “Bachelor,” “Jail,” and “Vanakkam Da Mappilei.” His contributions to the entertainment industry as a composer, singer, actor, and producer have cemented his place as one of the most versatile and successful artists in the Tamil film industry.
