Story:

Villain is a 2017 Indian neo-noir action thriller film in Malayalam, produced by Rockline Venkatesh and written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan. Mohanlal, Vishal, Srikanth, Raashi Khanna, Hansika Motwani, Manju Warrier, Siddique, Chemban Vinod Jose, Renji Panicker, Saikumar, and Aju Varghese are among the ensemble cast members that starred in it. The cinematographers were N. K. Ekambaram and Manoj Paramahamsa. Sushin Shyam composed the film score, while 4 Musics wrote the songs.

The protagonist of the tale is ADGP Mathew Manjooran, a senior IPS officer who takes a sabbatical and then re-enlists to work on a final case involving a string of related killings. In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, principal photography got underway on March 3, 2017, and it concluded in mid-June. It was the first full-length Indian movie to be shot in 8K. During the Diwali festival on October 19, Villain was released in India. Critics gave it largely negative reviews. Additionally, Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Raashi Khanna, and Srikanth made their Malayalam film debuts.

Plot

Three men are shot at gunpoint and died by drug injection at the start of the story. After taking a break, ADGP Mathew Manjooran IPS is about to retire. The DGP calls him on his last day of work to look into the matter. Despite his initial reluctance, Mathew ultimately chooses to take on the case after learning about the DGP’s medical condition and the pressure it is putting on him.

Two officers, DSP Iqbal and ASP Harshitha Chopra, assist him. On the night of the murder, Harshitha claims to have witnessed a woman racing into a restaurant while covered in a burqa. When Harshitha offered to aid, the woman turned her down and fled. Mathew apprehends drug boss Felix seven months ago.

D. Vincent, who manages to elude capture. In Delhi, Mathew and his spouse Neelima go with their daughter to her new college. His family is left to complete their adventure on their own when he returns to work after receiving a duty call while on the road. A vehicle strikes their automobile, killing his daughter and rendering Neelima unconscious.

Three other guys are killed in the same way in the meantime; the deceased are related to Tharakan’s hospital. Mathew surmises that the murderer is hospital physician Shaktivel Palanisamy, a Tamil national. After learning about his father’s suicide, Shaktivel’s dark past reveals that he suffered from mental trauma. He witnesses instances of medical malpractice in the hospital and, after graduating, begins to kill the perpetrators with the help of his girlfriend Dr. Shreya (the woman in the burqa).

Since the offender has already been identified, Mathew asks the DGP to remove him from the investigation and chooses to hand over the manhunt to state police apparatus. Harshitha learns that Felix killed Mathew’s family. She tells Mathew, who seems uninterested and already knows this. Felix’s whereabouts is disclosed in a video message that they receive from Shreya.

After fighting Felix and coming close to killing him, Mathew backs off after discovering that Felix was the objective of Shaktivel’s attack and instead captures him. Mathew finds out that Felix was assisted in escaping from police custody by Iqbal. Iqbal is asked to turn himself in to the police by Mathew.

Mathew finds out that the DGP is Shaktivel’s next target because they threatened Khalid Musthafa, a patient at Tharakan’s hospital who subsequently passed away in an unidentified accident. After seducing Mathew, Shreya brings him to Shaktivel, who is going to murder the DGP in front of him. DGP persuades Mathew that although he threatened Musthafa out of concern for a significant financial loss, he was not responsible for his demise.

Mathew makes an effort to persuade Shaktivel, who feels that he is practicing alternative justice and that the court system is crooked. He discloses that Mathew killed Neelima out of mercy. They spar and fight, and after Mathew treats Shaktivel’s mental disorder, he wins and spares Shaktivel because he thinks the latter may still be a competent physician. Then, Mathew is seen fulfilling Neelima’s final request by constructing a school.
