Biography:

Renji Panicker, born on September 23, 1960, is a versatile Indian personality known for his roles as an actor, scriptwriter, director, film producer, and journalist, with a significant impact on Malayalam cinema.

Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Sanatana Dharma College, Alappuzha, Renji furthered his education with a certificate in journalism from Press Club, Thiruvananthapuram, and a master’s degree in journalism from Kerala University, Karyavattom.

Commencing his career as a journalist, Renji later transitioned into scripting for films, particularly in collaboration with director Shaji Kailas. This collaboration produced several successful films, including “Dr. Pasupathy” (1990), “Thalastaanam” (1992), and “The King” (1995), establishing Suresh Gopi as a prominent lead actor in the early 1990s. Renji’s partnership with director Joshiy, marked by films like “Lelam” (1997) and “Pathram” (1999), continued to contribute to the success of Malayalam cinema.

While Renji has directed films such as “Bharatchandran IPS” (2005) and “Roudram” (2008), he also co-produced the former, marking a significant milestone in his career. Additionally, Renji has made notable cameo appearances in his films, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

Renji Panicker’s prowess extends beyond the film industry, as he is one of the managing directors of the Malayalam newspaper Metrovaartha. His acting career experienced a resurgence with roles in films like “Ohm Shanthi Oshaana” (2014), “Premam” (2015), and “Jacobinte Swargarajyam” (2016).

His personal life has seen both joy and sorrow, with his marriage to Aneeta Mariam Thomas and the tragic loss of Aneeta in 2019 due to a kidney ailment. Renji and Aneeta were blessed with twin sons, Nithin and Nikhil.
