Indian actor Srikanth is best known for his roles in Tamil and Telugu movies. Sriram is his given name in Telugu movies. He made his television debut in 1999’s Jannal – Marabu Kavithaigal by K. Balachander. He made his acting debut in the 2002 romance drama Roja Kootam. He afterwards appeared in more romantic dramas like April Maadhathil, Parthiban Kanavu, and Okariki Okaru. He then went on to play action parts in the 2010 film Drohi. He played the lead role in S. Shankar’s 2012 Tamil version of 3 Idiots, Nanban.
Tamil mother from Kumbakonam and Telugu father from Chittoor gave birth to Srikanth in Chennai.
He was raised in Hyderabad and his family was from Tirupati. His dad was a State Bank of India employee. After Srikanth returned from the United States, his older brother passed away from dengue. In Telugu movies, Srikanth goes by the name Sriram to prevent confusion with his contemporary Srikanth.
On September 7, 2008, he wed Vandana, who had earned her MBA in Australia. Two kids were born to the couple.
In the early 2000s, Srikanth received acting instruction from then-assistant directors like Vetrimaaran and Mysskin as he transitioned from modeling to acting. In Kathir’s Kadhal Virus (2002), Srikanth was chosen to play the lead part. He spent a year training for the role before being replaced by fellow newcomer Richard. The role of 12B in Jeeva was then considered for him to make his acting debut, but Shaam, another novice, ultimately won the part. Prior to being cast by Sasi in Roja Kootam (2002), after the original main actor had opted out, additional possible projects directed by Bharathiraja and K. Balachander did not work out either. He briefly gained notoriety as Roja Kootam Srikanth after the film’s success.
