Indian actress Athira Patel primarily works in Malayalam cinema. In 2016, she made her feature film debut in the Sanskrit film Ishti. Her most well-known part was in Angamaly Diaries, when she played Vincent Pepe’s sister.
In an interview with the Deccan Chronicle, she discussed the origins of her last name, Patel, citing her paternal grandfather as a Karnataka village chief who was known by the name Patelars.
Joby Varghese wrote and directed the short film Vuja De, in which she played her debut. She made her acting debut later in 2016 as the third wife of actor Nedumudi Venu in the Sanskrit film Ishti.
