Sam C. S.

Biography:

Sam C. S. is a versatile Indian artist known for his work as a film music composer, producer, lyricist, and singer, primarily in the Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam film industries. He made his Tamil debut with the horror film Orr Eravuu and subsequently worked on the scientific thriller Ambuli.

Some of his most noteworthy musical compositions can be found in films such as Kaithi, Puriyatha Puthir, Vikram Vedha (as well as its 2022 remake), Odiyan, Adanga Maru, and NOTA.

Sam C. S. was born in Tamil Nadu, India, and currently resides in Cumbum, Theni, Tamil Nadu. He completed his education at St. Aloysius Higher Secondary School in Royappan Patti, Theni, and later earned degrees in MCA (Master of Computer Applications) and MBA (Master of Business Administration) from St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli. Following his graduation, he worked for a software company.

Initially, Sam assisted other music composers in scoring for movies. His talent was soon recognized by film production companies, leading to an opportunity to compose music for the musical thriller Mellisai, later renamed Puriyatha Puthir.

During this period, he also composed jingles, which eventually brought him in contact with the director duo Pushkar-Gayathri. They offered him the opportunity to score the music for the film Vikram Vedha, and the film’s album and original soundtracks went on to become chart-toppers.

Sam’s career continued to ascend when, in 2018, director V. A. Shrikumar Menon offered him the chance to work on the music for the Mohanlal-starrer Odiyan.
