Biography:

Abhijeet Bhattacharya, professionally known as Abhijeet, is a renowned Bollywood playback singer with an extensive career spanning over 1000 films and 6034 songs.

Born on October 30, 1958, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Abhijeet is the son of Dheerendranath Bhattacharya, a Bengali businessman turned editor, and Kamla Bhattacharya.

Abhijeet embarked on his musical journey after graduating from Christ Church College in Kanpur. In 1981, he moved to Mumbai to pursue a singing career in Bollywood. Influenced by the legendary Kishore Kumar, Abhijeet’s distinctive voice and style set him apart in the industry.

He gained recognition for songs in movies like “Baaghi,” “Khiladi,” and “Shola Aur Shabnam,” establishing himself as a playback singer with numerous chartbusters. Notable contributions include hits from films such as “Yeh Dillagi,” “Phool Aur Angaar,” “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” “Dhadkan,” and “Main Hoon Na.”

Abhijeet collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan on several songs, but their association faced challenges, leading to a parting of ways. His last collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan was the song “Khudaya Khair” in the movie “Billu Barber.”

After a self-imposed exile, Abhijeet made a comeback in 2018 with chartbusters for Bengali films, including the title track of “Bhaijaan Elo Re” and “Sujon Majhi Re” from “Hoichoi Unlimited.” He continued his success with releases like “Aye Zindagi” and “Joy Durga Maa.”
