Biography:

Vani Jairam, born Kalaivani, was a legendary Indian playback singer known for her versatile voice and contributions to Indian cinema. Her career, which began in 1971, spanned over five decades, during which she recorded over 10,000 songs across more than 1,000 Indian movies, covering 19 languages.

Renowned for her vocal range and adaptability, Vani received numerous accolades, including three National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer and various state government awards. She was recognized for her mastery across multiple music genres, including Carnatic, Hindustani, thumri, ghazal, and bhajan. Beyond singing, she was also a composer, songwriter, and painter.

Born in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, Vani was raised in a family of classically trained musicians. Her exposure to Hindi film songs on Radio Ceylon sparked her interest in music. She began her classical training at a young age, later mastering various vocal forms under renowned tutors.
