Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is a biographical drama helmed by R. Madhavan in his directorial debut. The film revolves around Nambi Narayanan, portrayed by Madhavan himself, a scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation falsely accused in an espionage case and later vindicated. Beginning from Narayanan’s days as a graduate student at Princeton University, the narrative delves into his career as a scientist and the unjust espionage allegations he faced. Simran played a pivotal role as the female lead.

Announced officially in October 2018, principal photography spanned multiple countries, including India, Russia, and France. Sirsha Ray handled cinematography, Bijith Bala managed editing, and Sam C. S. composed the original score. “Rocketry” was filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, with English for scenes shot outside India.

Premiering at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival on May 19, the film saw its global theatrical release on July 1, 2022. It garnered positive reviews from critics.
