Kaikala Satyanarayana was an Indian actor, producer, director, and politician who primarily worked in Telugu film (25 July 1935 – 23 December 2022). nearly the course of six decades, he was in nearly 750 movies. In 2011 and 2017, he received the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, respectively. He earned the moniker Navarasa Natana Sarvabhouma (transl. Universal monarch of acting in nine rasas) for his talent in a variety of roles and genres.
He served as the Telugu Desam Party’s representative for the Machilipatnam seat in the 11th Lok Sabha.
On July 25, 1935, Kaikala Laxmi Narayana of Kavutaram village in Krishna district gave birth to Kaikala Satyanarayana. Satyanarayana graduated from Gudivada College after finishing his basic education in Gudlavalleru and his intermediate studies in Vijayawada.
D. L. Narayana first took note of Kaikala and offered him a part in his 1959 Changayya-directed film Sipayi Koothuru. He was recognized for his likeness to N.T. Rama Rao even though the movie did poorly at the box office. He was identified as a potential fool for NTR by them. Satyanarayana perfectly suited the location. He played NTR’s stooge in a number of films. In 1960, NTR approached Satyanarayana about playing a part in his S. D. Lal-directed movie Apoorva Sahasra Siraccheda Chintamani. Satyanarayana portrayed a royal in the drama.
He played a bad part in Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima, written by B. Vittalacharya. He was an exact fit for the part. After then, Satyanarayana made a name for himself playing villains.
Satyanarayana founded the Rama Films production company and worked on movies including Muddula Mogudu (1997), Bangaru Kutumbam (1994), and Kodama Simham (1990). He later made an appearance in over 750 movies.
He entered politics in 1996 after the TDP won the Machilipatnam constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.
He participated in the 59th National Film Awards jury for South Region II in 2012.
On April 10, 1960, Kaikala and Nageswaramma got married. The couple had two boys and two daughters.
At the age of 87, Satyanarayana passed away on December 23, 2022.
