A couple abandoning their newborn in a temple close to a village at the start of the movie. Since they cannot see his death due to his congenital abnormality. But the child lives thanks to the Goddess’s favour. He is adopted by Rayudu, the kind and forward-thinking man in the area, who goes by Devudu. As the years pass, the village spoils and pampered Devudu, a callow simpleton with a golden heart, making him their darling. But he hates it and flees under the pretext of marriage because he feels his parents abandoned him because of it. Rayudu shunned his sibling Linga Raju for being married twice, and Ganga Raju feels resentful of Rayudu for waiting for a chance to exact revenge.
During one of his trips to the city, Devudu befriends Madhavi after saving her from the thugs. It’s now time for their constituency’s general election. Four times, Sarweswara Rao MLA has asked Rayudu for support, but each time he has been rejected since he has lost their trust. Therefore, Sarweswara Rao uses a ruse to imprison his daughter Shanti under Rayudu’s protection and then declare that she will be returning home after his allegiance is fulfilled. In addition, he asks Rayudu to keep the deal a secret from Shanti. Shanti at that time adores Devudu’s purity and divinity.
Even after winning the election, Sarweswara Rao is unable to demonstrate his loyalty when the community chooses to punish Shanti. Devudu and Shanti then flee to the city. The next, Shanti realises the foul play and is shocked to learn the truth. She is, as far as the world knows, the first-born daughter of Sarweswara Rao. Fortunately, Shanti eventually comes out and forces him to acknowledge that he had used her for his own political advantage. At this point, Sarweswara Rao forces the Police to leave their hotel, aware of the current situation. Shanti makes Devudu tie a wedding chain around her neck as a form of retaliation. Ignorant of its sacredness, he acts on the assumption that it is an all-powerful locket. They then intend to abduct Sarweswara.
At that point, MLA Pundarikakshaiah gives Sarweswara Rao the backing he needs to become Chief Minister—so long as he knits Madhavi with his son. Therefore, Sarweswara Rao dispatches his goons to kill Devudu in order to get his daughter back. In an attempt to escape the situation, Devudu binds Madhavi’s wedding chain as well, forcing Sarweswara Rao to fulfil his vow. After learning about Devudu’s marriage to two women, Ganga Raju blames him in front of the panchayat, and just before Rayudu’s decision, the entire village supports Devudu. In the meantime, Devudu flees and hides in the temple, where he becomes normal due to the Goddess’s illusionary form. Simultaneously, Sarweswara Rao attempts to forcefully perform and attacks Rayudu and Madhavi.
