Story:

Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web (translated as Smuggling: The Smuggler’s Web) is a 2026 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller series created by Neeraj Pandey for Netflix and produced under the Friday Storytellers banner. The story centers on a team from the Indian Customs Service posted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport as they take on a powerful international smuggling network. The series features an ensemble cast including Emraan Hashmi, Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Zoya Afroz, Nandish Sandhu, and Anurag Sinha.

The show debuted on Netflix on 14 January 2026 and was met with largely favorable reviews from critics, who appreciated its performances, realistic portrayal of smuggling operations, and strong writing. It also drew massive global attention, becoming the first Indian series to top Netflix’s worldwide non-English TV rankings.

Plot

Set at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, the story centers on Arjun Meena (Emraan Hashmi), a principled Customs superintendent who has been suspended but is brought back to head a special task force targeting an international smuggling racket. Appointed by Assistant Commissioner Prakash Kumar (Anurag Sinha), the unit is made up of officers previously pushed aside for standing up to corruption—among them the bold field operative Ravi Gujjar (Nandish Sandhu) and the meticulous investigator Mitali Kamath (Amruta Khanvilkar).

As the team starts cracking down on smuggling activities, they run into entrenched corruption, political pressure, and the vast criminal empire of notorious smuggler Bada Choudhary (Sharad Kelkar). The operation grows more dangerous after coordinated attacks and the deaths of officers reveal that the danger lies not only with criminals, but also with compromised figures within the system itself.

The plot escalates toward a tense final mission involving a major gold-smuggling plan concealed under diplomatic immunity. Although the task force manages to uncover the scheme and dismantle the syndicate, their success comes at a heavy personal price, highlighting the never-ending struggle against corruption.
