TheatreSankalp Reddy is the writer and director of the 2017 Indian war film Ghazi. It was concurrently shot in Telugu and Hindi, with the latter being dubbed The Ghazi Attack. Starring in the movie are Taapsee Pannu, Atul Kulkarni, Rana Daggubati, Kay Kay Menon, and Satya Dev. With a budget of ₹150 million (US$1.9 million), the movie made over ₹345 million (US$4.3 million).
The fictionalized account of the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War served as the inspiration for the film Ghazi. The narrative centers on an executive naval officer and his squad aboard an Indian Navy submarine, who submerged for eighteen days. It concerns the bravery of the Indian submarine crew on board INS Karanj (S21), which destroyed the Pakistani submarine PNS Ghazi.

The movie received a lot of positive reviews when it was released in theaters on February 17, 2017, and it did alright commercially. According to Box Office India, it was a “Hit”. Later on, the movie took home the Telugu National Film Award for Best Feature Film. It was also a nominee for the 65th Filmfare Awards South’s Best Film and Best Director categories. Due to the refugee crisis that the Pakistan Army’s Operation Searchlight had sparked, India and Pakistan were on the verge of going to war in November 1971. A covert code passed from Pakistan to East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh) is deciphered by the Indian Navy and RAW.
