Madhie, an Indian cinematographer, was born in 1971 in Thirutharaipoondi. He comes from a large family with ten siblings, including his brother Piraisoodan, a poet and lyricist who has also worked in the Tamil film industry. Madhie initially pursued a degree in mathematics and had aspirations of becoming a restaurateur.
With over 30 years of experience in the film industry, Madhie has worked as a dedicated cinematographer on more than 25 films. According to him, cinematography goes beyond technical execution; it involves connecting with the audience’s emotions to create a profound impact that complements the story. He understands the importance of captivating viewers and leaving a lasting impression through visually appealing storytelling. Some of his notable works include “Veyil,” “Shaithan,” “Paiya,” “Mirchi,” “Srimanthudu,” “The Ghazi Attack,” and “Saaho.”
Madhie began his career as an associate cinematographer, collaborating with the renowned cinematographer S. Saravanan on around seven films. In 2002, he debuted as an independent cinematographer with the movie “Punnagai Desam.” However, his breakthrough came in 2006 with the release of “Veyil,” directed by Vasanthabalan and produced by Shankar. The film received high praise for its cinematography and marked a turning point in Madhie’s career. Following this success, he ventured into Bollywood and the Tollywood industry, where he continued to succeed. He had the opportunity to work on the multilingual and high-budget film “Saaho” in 2019, collaborating with renowned Hollywood technicians and utilizing advanced equipment. Currently, he is working on the Tollywood films “Sarkaru Vaari Patta” with actor Mahesh Babu, produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and “Rowdy Boys” alongside producer Dil Raju. Madhie has also teamed up with the acclaimed director Trivikram for a project starring Mahesh Babu and Pooja Hegde.
