Tottempudi Gopichand, Born on June 12, 1979, is an Indian actor predominantly active in Telugu cinema. Recognized for his roles in action-oriented movies, he entered the industry as a lead actor through “Tholi Valapu” (2001). After initially portraying antagonists in films like “Jayam” (2002), “Nijam” (2003), and “Varsham” (2004), he found his breakthrough as a protagonist with “Yagnam” in 2004.
His notable filmography includes “Yagnam” (2004), “Andhrudu” (2005), “Ranam” (2006), “Lakshyam” (2007), “Souryam” (2008), “Golimaar” (2010), “Sahasam” (2013), “Loukyam” (2014), “Jil” (2015), “Seetimaarr” (2021), and “Pakka Commercial” (2022). Fondly addressed as the “Action Star” and “Macho Star,” Gopichand was born in a village near Tangutur in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district. He is the younger son of filmmaker T. Krishna and was 8 years old when his father passed away.
Educated at Nil Desperandum in Ongole and Ramakrishna Mission School in Chennai, Gopichand pursued mechanical engineering in Russia. Tragedy struck when his elder brother Premchand, an aspiring director, passed away in a car accident. Despite visa issues preventing his attendance at the funeral, Gopichand remained determined to continue his father’s legacy in films. He took a year-long dialogue modulation course and embarked on his cinematic journey.
He debuted as a lead in “Tholi Valapu” and transitioned to negative roles in subsequent movies like “Jayam,” “Nijam,” and “Varsham.” His portrayal in “Jayam” received acclaim, leading to his reprisal of the role in the Tamil version. Gopichand’s return as a hero came with “Yagnam” (2004) and “Andhrudu” (2005). Throughout his career, he featured in various films, enjoying successes like “Sahasam” (2013) and “Loukyam” (2014).
In recent years, his sports action film “Seetimaarr,” directed by Sampath Nandi, gained positive reviews and triumphed at the box office. He’s also worked on the film “Pakka Commercial,” directed by Maruthi and featuring Rashi Khanna as the lead. Furthermore, Later his movie “RamaBanam,” directed by Sriwass. Now his coming with his next film titled as “Bhima”.
