TheatreAn American documentary about the John Wick franchise, Wick Is Pain, was released in 2025. Jeffrey Doe is the documentary’s director. It debuted on May 8, 2025, at Beyond Fest, and on May 9, it was made available online.
Filmed over ten years, Wick Is Pain depicts the reality behind the making of John Wick and its follow-up franchise movies. It covers the events leading up to the fourth installment, John Wick: Chapter 4, as well as how Keanu, David, and Chad first met and were introduced to Derek’s original screenplay, Scorn. The documentary describes how the first film was nearly never produced and why two men who were both first-time directors and best recognized for their stunt choreography ended up being the best fit to helm the project.
